At the beginning of the year, I stated to my best friend that if the Yankees and Phillies played each other in the World Series, it would be the first World Series that I can remember that I will not watch. I knew it was a possibility thanks to the Yankees unbelievable spending on MVP's and the fact that the Phillies were defending champions and still had a great team.
I have been debating for the past week whether I would stick by this or not. The first game is tonight and I will not be watching it. If I watch any game, it will be when the Phillies have won 3 games and are getting ready to win it all. Not because I enjoy watching the Phillies win (I don't), but because I want to see the faces on the MF'ing Yankees when they get so close just to lose it again. Good lord that will be an amazing feeling.
And it's nothing against the Phillies. I just have 2 good reasons for not wanting them to win.
#1 - They won last year. I want to see someone else win.
#2 - Them winning means I have to hear Andrew, another of my best friends, talk about how awesome they are for another year.
I would much rather have any of those things happen than see New York win another championship.
I'll keep a close eye on sports news outlets, but will not watch until hopefully Game 5, when the Phillies will be up 3-1 in Philadelphia. Even if they lose, watching them beat the Yankees in New York...No words can describe the excitement that will flow through my body.
So...in the spirit of this blogpost...Let's Go Phillies! Beat the f'ing life out of them. Don't even make it a contest.
