At the beginning of the year, I stated to my best friend that if the Yankees and Phillies played each other in the World Series, it would be the first World Series that I can remember that I will not watch. I knew it was a possibility thanks to the Yankees unbelievable spending on MVP's and the fact that the Phillies were defending champions and still had a great team.
I have been debating for the past week whether I would stick by this or not. The first game is tonight and I will not be watching it. If I watch any game, it will be when the Phillies have won 3 games and are getting ready to win it all. Not because I enjoy watching the Phillies win (I don't), but because I want to see the faces on the MF'ing Yankees when they get so close just to lose it again. Good lord that will be an amazing feeling.
And it's nothing against the Phillies. I just have 2 good reasons for not wanting them to win.
#1 - They won last year. I want to see someone else win.
#2 - Them winning means I have to hear Andrew, another of my best friends, talk about how awesome they are for another year.
I would much rather have any of those things happen than see New York win another championship.
I'll keep a close eye on sports news outlets, but will not watch until hopefully Game 5, when the Phillies will be up 3-1 in Philadelphia. Even if they lose, watching them beat the Yankees in New York...No words can describe the excitement that will flow through my body.
So...in the spirit of this blogpost...Let's Go Phillies! Beat the f'ing life out of them. Don't even make it a contest.

Almost a year later...
Well, it's been awhile folks.
Sorry for the delay, but to be honest, I haven't really had much in the sports world to rant about for the past year-ish.
Until now.
In case you can't tell from my previous posts, I despise the Yankees. Not just the players but the front office as well. And the fans. Pretty much anything Yankees-related is annoying to me. That's not just because of the 1996 Jeffrey Maier incident either. It's because they make the game unfair for every other team.
This year, after finally getting rid of the Mike Mussina curse, the Yankees are back in the World Series for the first time since 2001 (where they lost to the Diamondbacks). I still remember sitting in the booth at the Colosseum Sports Bar in Cockeysville and watching Luis Gonzalez shatter the Yankees' dreams. I was overly excited then, and I wish that I would have known then that they would not make it back into the Series for another 8 years. Needless to say, the World Series has been a lot more enjoyable without them in it.
Then came this offseason, which was highlighted by 3 MVP/Cy Young winning/potentional winners in the free agent market. Where did each of them go? The Yankees. All 3. Over $300 million in payroll spent in ONE offseason. Now they are in the World Series.
Here's the lesson kids. If you want something badly enough, don't work hard for it, just wait for a rich relative to pass away, inherit their fortune, then spend it on everything that will help you be better than everyone else. The Yankees have not always been the best team, just the most popular. Their YES television network generates most of their income. So...this is like high school then too. If you are popular enough, you will get more people wanting to be your friend (or in this case, play for the team).
Just imagine if Mark Texeira would have signed with the Orioles this year. Sure, they wouldn't have gone to the World Series, but the O's would have had a player to build around. Also, Nick Markakis would have been pitched to and would have hit 35 HR's. Just one player could have meant at least 20 more wins and career years by those around him. But no, it didn't happen because he had to be a douche bag and go with the popular kids.
More later...
